The current Uni Band...... El Vino Cheapo. The line up ...
1. Live @ the lake : Friday 8th October, 2004
Our last gig had a real 'festival' feel to it ( if only it hadn't been so cold our fingers went blue ) as we played to a rapt student audience at the end of Fresher's week. They marveled at our contemporary song selection ( 'It's not unusual' and 'Surfin' USA' to name but two ) and only abused us verbally a couple of times. They actually loved the Darkness' 'I believe in a thing called love' and Blur's 'Song2' ( although we did our best to mangle this up until almost unrecognisable ) .
2. The Acoustic cavern : Sunday 1st August, 2004
The Acoustic cavern (downstairs at St. James' wine vaults in Bath ) is a laid-back folky club that we occasionally ruin with our dodgy cover versions. On our latest outing we played a fantastic mini-set of 'That's entertainment', 'Marie's the name ( of his latest flame )', 'Jealous Guy' and ( not often heard at the Acoustic Cavern ) 'Get into the groove'!!!!!
2. Maggie Wootton's summer party: Saturday 15th May, 2004
Ahhhh!!!! Summer loving.....on a balmy summer's evening in a tiny tent in Somerset we wowed the assembled masses, playing for an unprecedented 1 hour and 10 minutes!!!!! John manged to break ( count them... ) TWO strings, forcing Vania and me to sing acapella versions of both 'Moon River' and 'Happy birthday' whilst he did some running repairs. Very enjoyable evening was had by all as we danced the crowd all the way from 1959 through the 60's, 70's, 80's, 90's and 00's!
