This course is taught
by Dr Ian Walker and provides an introduction to key
issues in traffic and transport psychology. As a branch
of applied psychology, traffic and transport has its own
body of research and theory, but also draws on social
and cognitive psychological theories and applies them to
interesting and relevant real-world issues. Through this
unit you will be introduced to many key issues in the
field and across the lessons you should be able to see
how general psychological theories are applied to real
problems and identify themes which apply to a range of
traffic-related topics.
This unit builds on second-year cognitive and social
psychology units and nicely complements the final-year
options on Attitudes, Health Psychology, and the Psychology
of Risk (although it is not necessary to take these options
to take Traffic & Transport Psychology).
