My research is in the following
areas: politics and governance of the European
Union, esp. 'Europeanisation'; politics
and governance of welfare in Britain and
Europe; discourse, power and policymaking;
the theory and practice of social democratic
politics; I am particularly interested in
engaging with these broad theoretical interests
in Europe and comparatively, and I interpret
'social policy' very broadly.
I enjoy supervising, supporting
and learning with PhD students, and I expect
and encourage them to engage with the broader
intellectual life of the Department and
the European Research Institute in Bath,
and beyond.
